The Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon! Having been to the Grand Canyon a couple of times in my younger years, I was very excited to get to go again. We ended up going into the park on two different days so that we could see different parts of it. The first day we did a small portion closer to the south entrance and visitor center. We walked along the hiking trail and stopped at many overlooks to check out the amazing views. I must say, that I was having a panic attack pretty much the whole time! There are a lot of spots along the way that do not have guard rails up. My kids liked to get real close to the edge to get some nice pictures.

I’m pretty sure that in every video Eric took during that day, you can hear my voice saying “Emma, that is close enough! Back up!”. I think Eric looked up the statistics, and apparently around 15 people every year die just falling over the edge while trying to get a closer look or take that amazing picture. Needless to say, I was glad we all made it home in one piece.

We also saw a group of Elk, just walking through the park. We were close enough to them that we could have almost touched them. It was very cool. We walked a very short distance on the Bright Angel trail, just to see what it was like to walk down into the canyon. Parts of the trail still had ice on it though, so it was just a bit dangerous feeling like you are going to slip and fall while walking down a narrow pathway into the canyon.

We also had planned to meet my sister Katie and her boyfriend Nino in Williams and visit the Grand Canyon with them for a day.

We decided to explore the far West side of the South Rim and went over to Hermit’s Rest trail. I am sure I never saw this part of the Grand Canyon on any other visits, it was so amazing! Just breathtaking.

It was so nice to meet Nino and catch up with Katie. Turns out our trailer is a little small for entertaining though!
